I'm not sure if this video has been posted previously so if it has, mods please feel free to delete the thread or merge as necessary. Also, there is a good deal of off color language so please take that into consideration before watching. Finally, there are the usual cast of morons who come out of the woodwork following things like this spouting racist BS in the comments following the video.
Now that the list of disclaimers are over with, we can get to the actual discussion. I would have liked to see the guy being attacked to more to diffuse the situation. He was in the right to defend himself in my view but he certainly egged the situation on. I'm not defending the punk who got his butt kicked, far from it. He got what he deserved in my view. However the older guy had no way of knowing if the punk had a weapon or was the second coming of Bruce Lee, etc. The smart move would have been to leave the situation or if that wasn't possible, at least not be part of the problem. Once he was touched however, I am in full support of his actions. I particularly like how he did not stop with one shot. He kept going until the threat was no longer a threat. He freaks out a bit afterwards, but its hard to blame him as it was a pretty emotionally charged situation. One other thing to note is that we again see in these types of situations, no one jumped in to help or prevent the attack. If that punk DID have a weapon, that old guy would have been dead before anyone would have helped him. Moral? No one is going to jump in and save your A$$, you are on your own. To me, that means that I had darn well better train like it.
From watching some interviews and a couple of other clips on this topic, it turns out that the 67 year old man was a Vietnam Vet who was on the way to his mother's funeral. A comment about needing to get some nice shoes and have them shined apparently caused the attacker to start his racist tirade that led to the physical altercation. Also, it appears that the punk who did the attacking was out of prison on parole and has subsequently been sent back.
