China has had a rash of knife attacks on school-age children:

A knife-wielding man attacked and injured 28 young children and three adults at a kindergarten in eastern China on Thursday in the third such attack in a month, state media reported.

Five of the children were in critical condition after the attack, which was carried out by a 47-year-old man in the city of Taixing, according to Xinhua news agency, citing officials and police.

Police said Zheng, 41, used a dagger to stab children in the neck, chest, stomach and back in a fit of rage and depression after splitting from his girlfriend. Five other children were seriously injured in the attack.


They're executing the attackers within five weeks of the attacks...what more can they do? Security has been increased in many places.

Seven children were killed and at least 20 others wounded after an attack at a kindergarten in northwest China on Wednesday, local media reported.

The attack took place in Shaanxi province, the Xinhua news agency said.

A man attacked six young women with a meat cleaver at a busy Chinese market before committing suicide by jumping out of a building, according to state-run media.

Two of the six were seriously injured, according to the state-run Guangzhou Daily. All of the victims were hospitalized.

Police have recovered the 2ft-long knife that Fang, 26, said he had used in the killings, the Xinhua news agency said.
His motive was not immediately known and officers were investigating the incident.


Three children died at the scene while three other youngsters and four teachers were injured and taken to hospital, a report said.


A later story indicated that one of the teachers had died.
