As I've stated before, I do not yet study a PMA system...but I'd like to. I've found a reputable school in my area (only one) but they aren't accepting new students. I don't know if that's going to change; not sure what the instructors reasons are.
I'm not a big fan of distance learning or correspondence work; not that I don't believe it's good or works.....but that it's inferrior to actually working with and learning face to face, hand to hand, with a good instructor.
BUT: That may be my only option for the time being.
Until I can find a local school to join and become a member of the family w/in....this will just have to do.
Is there any system or group that puts out good material for this kind of training??
Thank you

A lot of these systems have a tradition of people learning via the seminar method. Modern Arnis has been very much that way, but Dekiti and Sayoc do this to a lesser extent. If you can get a training group together, it's very feasible with the FMA (as opposed to, say, Tai Chi). Do you have someone nearby to work with?

What about that one school that you said was an hour away? I know that is a long distance, but it still might be worth it to check the school out. We have a couple of guys who train at our dojo who live far away. They come about once a week and it seems to work out for them.
Maybe that could be an option for you for the time being? You could also see if the instructor gives private lessons if you can't make the group class. :)

I don't see an hours drive as being that far if you only go a couple of times a week.
I wish you luck on finding a place to learn
As has been said the seminar method is a good way to get started if any are given near you

I don't see an hours drive as being that far if you only go a couple of times a week.
Between being a husband, father of two beautiful young children with their own evening activities, working overtime in my career, running a weekly martial arts class, being a Cub-Scout leader and other church responsibilities...... the Drive between Lawrence Ks and my hometown of Wichita Ks. (Which I just discovered is closer to one hour and 45 min One Way) is A Great Deal of time.
I also work weekends, makes getting together really difficult.
...wish I could do it.
