Guro Crafty (and others familiar with the material),

Before asking the obvious question, a little clarification is in order. I am particularly interested in striking mechanics and tactics, as well as entering and footwork techniques. Based on this, my knee-jerk reaction is to order The Bolo Game, as it appears to address these things specifically. However, the promo clips of KT2 (especially the Kalimba footage) is very interesting to me and shows concepts that also fall into the above categories.

So, for somebody interested in the above areas, which of the dvds contains the most bang-for-your-buck material (as the choice is one or the other for now and, sadly, not both...)? Again, both show very intriguing concepts, but based on the posted/published information available for each, I am having trouble deciding.

Any input would be appreciated!

That would be the ideal situation - but the point was that currently I have to choose.

Well, I only have KT2 of the two mentioned, and it does seem to address more of a situation when you are already in, and even some ground material. It is excellent stuff, mind you, but I ain't sure if that is what you;re looking for. In that regard, KT1 is great, too.

IMHO, you might be better off starting with some of the more foundational material found in the "Attacking Blocks" and "Combining Stick and Footwork" DVDs. These DVDs address those areas your op asks about, particularly striking mechanics, entering and footwork.

Thanks for the replies thus far!

@Gagimilo - that is exactly the type of feedback I was looking for, thank you!

@Bluesbassist - those are also great suggestions, and will have to go on my future purchases list.

Thanks again.

Woof Jed:

Our "Running Dog Game" DVD is addressed mostly to defeating the guard. Some of the stiking principles and combinations used are first shown in a standing context, but the emphasis in on beating the MMA guard.

In "The Bolo Game" DVD the focus is on big single stick and the bolo strike-- which as the promo clip shows, has a very strong interface with bolo punch type uppercuts.. There are, IMHO, some deep understandings (shhh! DBMA secrets!) with regard to footwork, angling, and zoning that apply across categories.

I think this is one of the most nutritionally dense pieces of work that I have ever put out.

The Adventure continues!

What, even more than Dos Triques!? Oh damn, now I gotta shell put some money again...

Not to worry, not only will Dos Triques serve you VERY well in getting the most out of Bolo Game, but conceptually it lays the foundation for our footwork methodology across all categories whereas Bolo Game is more specialized.

For the record, while Dos Triques does lay out our core triangular matrix, it does not show all the stepping patterns of the matrix for to have done so would have involved lead changes that would have required additions to the stick patterns I was using. (I'm thinking here of "the swing step" and the "across the gum" variations of the lower canines) In my experience, most people find it EXTREMELY challenging to develop the 1x1 concept linearly, let alone on our triangular matrix (or anyone's triangular matrix for that matter) and I left those out of this DVD.

PS: Also amongst the more "nutritionally dense" DVDs I have put out is "The Snaggletooth Variations".

Thank you for the responses! My original question was answered perfectly. Sadly it just makes me want more and more of your products! I think the Bolo Game will be exactly what I am looking for. Any thoughts when it will be released?

Thanks again.

We should be getting the master in from Ron/Night Owl any day now, and as soon as we do Cindy and I will do the boxcover (1-2 days) then it all goes off to the duplication house. Harder to predict there given holiday variables, so I will just say total time I would guess to be 2-3 weeks.

True, but after having both "Attacking blocks" and "Hand and foot coordination", I did not find the "Snaggletooth" all that packed with new info...at least not as much as with Dos Triques. In all honesty though, I do consider myself fairly intelligent and had been working/experimenting with earlier videos, so some of the stuff from the Snaggletooth I doscovered myself, too. :)
