Hello to all forum members. Having recently come to Alaska, I've been looking for a place to continue training Lameco Eskrima. Wayne Keller has been my teacher in Oregon for several years, but I'm stationed here in Alaska for the next two years and I'm hoping to find a group to train with while I'm here. If anyone would be willing to supply some leads, I'd appreciate it.

That's a big state! Can you be more specific about where you are?

Hope you have luck finding a Lameco instructor. In the meanwhile, Alaska is known for producing tough FMA instructors.

Have you tried this guy (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=6872662)?

Best,

Steve

Yeah, that'd be good to know, right? I'm in Anchorage, Ft. Rich area.

No, not terribly.

Funny thing about being in Anchorage is the lack of an martial arts presence here. You've got the obligatory taekwondo, karate, mixed martial arts, and boxing gyms, but outside of that zip. Nada. It's not the Phillipines, but I'm kind of surprised there's no etablished escrima or kung fu school up here.

Yeah, it's a pretty big city--I would have expected more. Is it the same for other things like gyms and dance studios that you'd have to drive to in the winter?
