Two of my Kali Tudo students have a school in Moreno valley and every few months I drive out there for a one day seminar, today being one of those days.

It is a very enjoyable arrangement. I work with these two students every week in the Kali Tudo class, then get to work with their students on what has been brought back to them.

Today we will be starting with the triplet of Dodger-Dracula-Bolo.

Good times yesterday. Dog Mark and Dog Mark's group has evolved nicely in its understanding so I was able to go deeper into the material.
I stumbled onto a nifty new drill for imparting the feeling of a Dracula done correctly.

The edit of Kali Tudo 3 is coming along nicely. We will be integrating some footage shot last year in Hawaii of the Malayu Game.

As discussed and shown in our "Staff" DVD, "Malayu" means "Malaysian" and is a reference to the Malayu Sibat (Malaysian Staff) structure that I learned in the Philippines from GT Leo Gaje. For us it is the name of the core power strike in this system.

Friday afternoon is open mat time at Rigan Machado's and is one of my favorite sessions of the week and has become part of my conditioning program. Rolled last night for a solid 75 minutes, including the last 15 minutes doing friendly stand up MMA sparring with a nice purple belt. Integrating the Malayu Game and the Bolo Game was working really nicely.

Now a big tough young blue wants to try me next week.

The Adventure continues!

Sorry for not being here very much. Back last night from a two week trip. After a day or three to recuperate (9 hour times zone changes are a female dog) I should be back to posting regularly.

I just got back late last night from three days in Las Vegas for the SHOT show: guns, knives, & toys-- Oh my! (Apologies to Frank Baum, author of "The Wizard of Oz") and so much more. In the coming weeks/months we will be seeing several new products available on our website.

For example, I finally found a reasonably priced trauma kit. IMHO, those of us who seek to "walk as a warrior for all our days, as protectors of our land, women, and children" need to think about more than how to fight. We also need to work on our healing skills. Winning the fight is a good thing, bleeding out on the way to the hospital is not. I have a trauma kit in my truck at all times. Or, you might be able to help someone else.

Just back from a wonderful time giving a seminar in Vancouver for Tricky Dog. Excellent group of people-- good energy, good times. Next week, Chicago.

Several matters on my plate at the moment, I hope to get back to pending matters here before I leave for Chicago.

Sorry for low activity level around here; things have been very, very busy for me. By next week I should be able to re-establish a groove around here.

Back from my second seminar in Seattle hosted by Rob and Shawn; the focus was "Consistency Across Categories: Kali Tudo and Die Less Often".

Day One was Kali Tudo and Day Two the first half of the day was SIW (Short Impact Weapons) and the second half of the day was the Dogcatcher vs. Mongo Ice Pick and Ice Pick Sewing Machine.

We finished with Bando stick stretches.

I think they would get the dark humor of it all.

Anyway, I just got back last night. The flight back was a bit of a trip from hell; due to aviation fuel contamination issues in Israel (which were known for many days) Iberia stopped in Cyprus on the way to Madrid-- but neglected to make any arrangements to compensate for our arriving nearly two hours late in Madrid-- nor did it help us with gate info for connecting flights in Madrid-- net result was that my non-stop flight to LA was missed and I was booked 2 hours later via AA to Boston and a 3 hour wait in Boston for flight to LA; nonetheless my baggage did not make it. There's more to it, but the bottom line is that not only does Iberia give only one movie on a 11 hour flight and no music or movie on the 5.5 hour flight to Tel Aviv from Madrid while in really excremental sits, it is corporately incompetent. Rant over.

Anyway, the trip was great. 45 people at the seminar, including from Germany and Slovenia. Very gracious seminar hosts took me to Jerusalem, Northern Border, and Akko.

My first time in Israel-- much upon which to reflect.

Awesome Friday afternoon BJJ roll with a very nice athletic ego-free purple belt. This allowed me to work on some of my freakier (a.k.a. "the old dog's game") stuff.

The challenge with freaky stuff is to find people who can roll ego-free; ego driven people will tend to crash into stuff that comes on weird angles and unfamiliar rhythms-- and then they get mad at you-- so it is a real gift to find someone with whom such play can be safely engaged.

This particularly applies with the striking game of Kali Tudo.

Been on the road.

a) training a gun lawyer in Los Vegas and getting in some shooting in the desert. Scoring head shots at 220 yards with his AK, and doing better with his Springfield XD 9mm than with my Glock 19. Looks like I am going to be selling my G19 (and G26 too) and getting the XD and using the extra money to start customizing my own AK.

b) Then to the SHOT Show. Several new products will be appearing in coming weeks on our catalog. Also got to hold the new 15 shot Keltec shotgun. 15 shots in a bullpup concept. Fascinating and absolutely awesome balance. Too bad Keltec's reliability reputation is so dubious.

c)Then down south of Salt Lake City, hosted by 19th Group SF. Co-Instructor Tuhon Jared Wihongi. Good times! Some very nice gun and rifle disarms from Tuhon Wihongi.

d) Home to LA on Wednesday.
