Ohio cop defends takedown of 84-year-old with knife



WHITEHALL, Ohio — An Ohio police department says it has received scores of calls from around the country complaining about a YouTube video showing an officer taking an 84-year-old woman to the ground. Police Chief Richard Zitzke in the Columbus suburb of Whitehall says the officer did what she had to do when the woman was seen holding a steak knife in a Walmart parking lot on Aug. 1.

can you say law suit! THey didn't have to crack her head open and all of that, but I guess either way you look at it the woman would have got hurt whether by take down, taser, or asp baton.....oh well.

Ahhh the fuzz....protect and serve huh..they are the last people I would ever call....or should I say call first. They may get a call after I am done, maybe. In this case that was complete overkill....it is obvious that the old lady was not aware of much...she seemed to be wandering a bit and unsure of her surroundings...perhaps looking for family a car etc....yes she was carrying a steak knife but i didn't see the weapon come into play at any time.

Yeah, she was real threat...you can see people freaking out all around, as she was swinging the knife aggressively and putting everybody in danger.
