Yet another great seminar featuring GM Max Pallen!
There was some training on Fri night (7/13) that we missed due to a navagational error by my fearless navigator, so someone else will have to help me out and post the details there.
Saturday marked the official start of the seminar covering fundamental striking and shielding concepts and moving into disarming as well as Gumon(counter for counter) basics.
Sunday continued with Gumon basics and empty hand applications. To evaluate the progress of those in attendance GM Pallen had each student play Gumon with seminar host Tugan Mike McFarland, myself, and Lakan Jason Burlingame (GuroJason on here). Everyone did a great job and I for one had a fantastic time working with the new students and "old hands" alike! Hope to see everyone at future events!

Navigational error?!!? It was a navigational ambiguity!
I do wish I could change my screen name.. maybe I should get a new one... in the beginning I made it "GuroJason" because that's what your students call me... but I'm not really a guro yet!

I do wish I could change my screen name..
Anyone who does wish to change their screen name need only PM me or another admin with a clear request to that effect. It's so easy that even I can figure out how to do it without help from Bob Hubbard or Carol Kaur!

I just want to let readers of this post know that I asked Arnisador to change my screen name because I felt too much like a fraud calling myself "Guro" on here since I haven't yet earned that title.
Now my name is 5tirosCamarin, after Senkotiros and its old name, Camarin Style.

I believe there were several Camarin styles. If my brain's working right a camarin was like a grain warehouse that the workers would also use for practicing their arnis.

Also, the same name was given to the workers themselves, according to the Senkotiros Philippines website. It also says the workers practiced in private to develop skills to defend themselves from public ridicule and abuse due to their subordinate class in society, and when the owners of the warehouse found out about the training they were hired as personal body guards. Another possible explanation of the Camarin name is its region of origin, Camarines Sur, on the southern tip of Luzon.
Guro, there were several other camarin styles?

More than likely. They were migrant workers, so they'd move around and learn and share so most likely different styles would develop
