For those of you using Apple, the DNL format is not compatable, we will be sorting out an exe format for you guys, unfortunetly some of the flash features in this format do not work as they do in DNL format.

Also dont forget to download the latest version of the DNL Reader that enables you to read it.

Just an up-date, there is now .exe version on line of the magazine for Apple Users but some of the flash applications have had to be disabled for this format.

And a .PDF version on line which is just a flat document so you dont get those nice page turns and interactions with the magazine.

The .dnl version is far the better version with so much more interaction within the pages of the Magazine.

Best regards

I don't know if it's me or my system, but I can't get it to work. Where is the pdf version?Have you installed the latest dnl_reader (http://www.4shared.com/file/83912000/39133ae/DNL_Reader.html) (there is a link on the Stickfighter Magazine site). You have to install this reader first, you may have one of the older readers that you use for FMA Digest but you will need the newest version for Stickfighter Magazine.

If you are still having trouble then there are .exe (http://www.4shared.com/file/87127911/a3e256a/MAC_Users_EXE_Stickfighter_Vol_1_Issue_1.html) and .pdf (http://www.4shared.com/file/87214374/f2185425/Stickfighter_Magazine_Vol_1_Issue_1.html) links on the web site Stickfighter Magazine (http://www.stickfightermagazine.com).

If your running a PC you should be able to read it but you have to also make sure you are logged in as the administrator or main user/owner of the PC as if you are not downloads may be restricted.

Here is the latest up-date from Stickfighter Magazine.

Stickfighter Magazine Installation Instructions

1. To view an online DNL book, please ensure that you are logged into Windows using an account which has permissions to install software, e.g. Administrator or Owner.

2. If you have not installed the DNL reader before please open your web browser and go to www.stickfightermagazine.com and select the download link on our home page to install the latest DNL Reader which is required to view the magazine. This installation process is only required once and will allow you to read all future publications of the magazine.

3. Please select the first button ‘Magazine Download Vol 1 Issue 1’ to open and/or install the magazine to your hard drive. You can at this stage simply open the document to view it. In some case during the installation process you may have a coloured bar appear at the top of your browser, this is your computer protecting you from unwanted downloads. Please click on the bar and allow active x plugins or allow blocked content. (If using another operating system please select either the .exe or .pdf buttons which are also located on our home page)

4. If you wish to save the book to your PC, right click on the book then, 'Save As' to your PC. When you want to view the book again in future, just double click on the Magazine file in the location that you saved it on your PC.

Latest News

OK there has been some minor teething problems with the first issue of Stickfighter Magazine, fortunately not with the magazine itself, but with the end users viewing capabilities.

To resolve this the best I can, I have now created .exe and .pdf versions of the magazine to ensure nobody misses out.

If you have experienced problems downloading the .dnl version of the magazine after following the instructions above, then please read the following notes:

Unfotunately there is not a native MAC reader to enable viewing of the DNL Magazine format that I have used.

I have been looking into it and apparently the .exe version will work inside Virtual PC for MAC and possibly Parallels for MAC. (Sorry I do not have access to a Mac to test this out, so any feedback regarding this would be sincerely appreciated).

Also note, if you have an Intel based-Mac, you can use Apple's Bootcamp to run Windows as well as Mac OSX on the same PC.

More information about Virtual PC can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc

I have now produced a PDF version of Stickfighter Magazine Vol .1 Issue 1, following requests to do so, but unfortunately some areas of the magazine will not be viewable and/or functional. You will sadly lose all of the interactivity and page turns from the book. So will not be able to enlarge pictures, view hidden documents and pictures which are layered in the DNL and EXE version or use the live links facilities. Also the Flash video content is only available on the DNL version of this magazine.

To experience the magazine in it's intended fully interactive state you will need to download the DNL version on a PC.

A DNL Reader is only required for the .dnl file format. The .exe format already has a reader built in, but has a few less viewing capabilities, which is why we prefer to use the DNL format. Please ensure you install the DNL Reader first or the magazine will not open.

I will try to take PDF format into consideration for the next issue and will look at a way to include the more interactive stuff in a web location so you still get to see it.......the cogs are turning, slowly, but rest assured they are turning so there is hope yet, hehe!

Any feedback regarding the magazine or the installation process is very welcome and sincerely appreciated, as this will in turn help me to produce a better magazine for more to enjoy in the future.

Further Up-dates:

If you go to the Stickfighter Magazine (http://www.stickfightermagazine.com/) web site there are now download buttons for .exe and .pdf versions of the magazine. Unfortunatly the .pdf version is not as interactive as the .dnl and .exe versions of the mag, eg. page turning, video clips, picture enlargements and hidden text/pop ups, but we are working on that side of things as we dont want anyone to miss out on the expeariance of the interactive part of the magazine.

At the moment we are putting some of the content that you cant see on the .pdf up on the website, hopefully within the next week will have much of it live on the web site too.

But we are looking for tips from you guys on how to make the pdf version more interactive as it is not a format we use that often as the dnl version is geared more towards online magazines and books.

Also you can print off the dnl version of the magazine too, on the navigation buttons at the bottom of the book.

We also understand that sitting in front of a computer reading can be tiresome, which is why we have opted for the magazine theme. We want to keep articles to a reasonable length and with 2 months between issues you can read one article every couple of days in a few minutes and come back another day by use of the contents page you can easily navigate back to where you left off. Also the links, video footage and other interactive sections take away the feeling of just sitting and reading at your PC.

We also recommend FMA Digest (http://www.fmadigest.com/)(Who have been around for 5 years now)for your in depth previews of all the different styles and event reports. FMA Digest will in future issues have their own section in Stickfighter Magazine outlining their previous issues and letting you know what is to come in the future issues.

Our intention is to point everyone in the right direction and share as much of our knowledge and get as much information out there for the FMA expert, enthusiast and for anyone wishing to take up FMA.

Best regards

News Update!
OK there has been some minor teething problems with the first issue of ‘Stickfighter Magazine', fortunately not with the magazine itself, but with the end users viewing capabilities.

To resolve this the best we can, we have now created .exe and .pdf versions of the magazine to ensure nobody misses out.

We were not entirely happy with the first version of the .pdf magazine so have made some improvements and uploaded the new version today, so if you have dowloaded an earlier version you may prefer to download the new .pdf file as all email addresses, website addresses and red text have live links now. You can now also see the links to 'Stick it here!' and 'FMA on the Worldwide Web'.

The only thing the .pdf file does not show in comparision to the dnl magazine, is the picture enlargements and hidden text, but we have now made all links available and feel it as near to the .dnl as we can get it.
If you have experienced problems downloading the magazine, then please read the installation instructions on our website.

GET THE NEW PDF FILE NOW (http://www.4shared.com/file/87999986/3ec4cfcf/_2__Stickfighter_Magazine_Vol_1_Issue_1.html)

Any feedback regarding the magazine or the installation process is very welcome and sincerely appreciated, as this will in turn help us to produce a better magazine for more to enjoy in the future.
