Greetings--
I was curious if any members here might be attending Tuhon McGrath's Summer Training Camp in August? Some of the initial details can be found on the PTI website...www.pekiti.com.
I am trying to make arrangements so I can attend...and would be happy to make the acquaintance of any practitioners (Pekiti-Tirsia or otherwise) on these forums and train to the wee hours.
Best,
Jack A. Latorre

Is it open to anyone?
In general, the summer camps are open to anyone 18 years and up, but as this camp is focused on advanced material, I would suggest that anyone who wishes to attend should have the basics down first before attending. At least a year in any good FMA style should meet that requirement.
I will have the cost of the camp and other details up on my website this week.

It would be my honor to be able to train with you and learn from you as well.
It will be my first, LONG AWAITED seminar with Tuhon McGrath, and I am quite excited about it!
I have heard nothing but great things about Tuhon McGrath's Summer training camps.
Really looking foreward to going!

After much sweet talk with my wife, it seems as if the winds of change are in my favor.
Provided nothing gets sabotaged, I will be there.
Mr. Terrell and Mr. Lamade...I look forward to seeing you both again.
Mr. Borges...we finally get to meet and train.
Ray S. from Utah...if you attend, I will make up for that defective dvd. :)
Tuhon...it will be an honor to train under you once again.
Best,

I'm glad...the more the merrier.
I am looking forward to the training...I will be sure to dust off the cobwebs of inactivity so I can be at my best. :)
I believe a number of my students will be attending...some experiencing Tuhon McGrath's instruction for the first time. There is such satisfaction that happens for me when they witness for themselves the quality understanding, instruction and performance provided. There are likely epiphanies to be had...

Had a great time at the camp. There was a lot of information presented that will keep me busy for years to come. Thanks especially to Tuhon McGrath for his expert presentation and also to Jack Latorre and Dan Terrell for their fine teaching and coaching throughout the four days we were there.
Also interesting to note was the high camraderie level and respect shown by all participants to each other - although by the fourth day it is fair to say that spontaneous laughter could be produced by the mere drop of a pun.
One question: my last-minute-bought eye protection tended to fog up within 15 seconds of practicing a technique. Although this resulted in four days of great low-light training conditions (putting me light years ahead of any average person wearing regular goggles), can anyone recommend eye protection that won't fog up?
Best,
Steve
I've had some luck with a an anti-fog spray on goggles that tended to fog up. It's called "Visor Guard": got it a few years ago...

These are used for chainsaw and paintball activities, they are a mesh goggle so they can't fog up.
Edit:
I started doing a bit of hunting because this is a perennial problem for me and found this:

I'm really, really tempted.

I picked up some ballistic eyewear for about $8.00 from a local gun shop that has worked well for just about everything...training, bike riding, range time, etc. Haven't had an issue with them fogging up. Where you're far enough north to be in easy reach of ski shops, or sporting good stores with a good-sized ski department, you should be able to get some excellent defogging solutions there that can be used on nearly any lens.
If you are looking for something fancy, you may want to give these folks a try:

Thanks guys! All of your suggestions sound do-able. I'll admit that 15 seconds into our drills I was beginning to feel like the blind martial artist who had to develop a sixth sense and "feel" his way through the movements (probably not a bad thing). If you met my training partner you'll understand why being able to parry a strike is important...
One thing that I really enjoyed doing at the camp were the multiple opponent drills wherein we tried to keep the opponent we were fighting in-between the other opponents. You could spend a lot of time working various facets of those drills to the point where they become second nature.

Steve

There is a product I use called cat crap and it works quite well on my raquetball goggles that I use when training. Cat crap is the actual name of the product, I couldn't make that up. I'll post a link http://www.camping4less.com/product.asp?specific=jnoqloose

Thanks. I don't think I could resist using a product called "Cat Crap," so I'll add it to my list of things to try.

Cat Crap :D I think I'll have to try that too :D
On a different note though, glad to hear the training went well! I hope to have a chance to make one of your gatherings before too long. Looking forward to catching up on more goings on as my back gets better. :)

Hey everyone, Steve, what's going on? Anthony here with a bit'o insight as well. Being a deep and cold water diver, I've gone through many products to keep my goggles free from fogging up. It would seem that they all have about the same longevity. What I have found is that toothpaste works real well, not the gel kind. However, in a pinch, your own spit works the best. When your lenses start to fog up, if there is a bathroom near by, even if there isn't, just spit on you lenses, rub it around with your finger not a clothe, and if you can , either rinse them or wipe them off. Just a bit of FYI. Wow, wasn't the seminar great? Here's my recap: day 1, wow awesome technique. By the end of the day, WOW, what was number 1? Day 2: Wow, that was awesome, by the end of the day, "what did we learn yesturday? Day 3: My body started to do it's own thing! Day 4: Let's just say a total shut down, maximum overload. What day is today? I applaude Tuhon Bill, and his passion and insight. It was good to meet everyone: Jack, Dan, Scott, Steve and wife, and everyone else that I haven't mentioned. I hope to see everyone again.
