In 1967 I was dating a young lady from Lansing Michigan. Her family owned a cottage at Lake Arrowhead and they would come up every summer for vacation. I was playing in a band and one night I met this young lady outside the dance club. We hit it off and dated for the next 2 years. Uncle Sam came calling and I was off to serve my country in Viet Nam. While I was there I lost touch with her.3 Tours later I returned home and went looking for her. They sold their cottage, no record of a forwarding address. I went to her old high school in Lansing- they would not give me any information. I went to her old house- neighbors knew they had moved , but not sure where.
38 years later I signed up on classmates.com did a search for her and BINGO!, I found her. She was living in Arizona. I emailed her and for the next 2 years we chatted regularly. She had been married twice , had 2 kids, and was not happy. I gave her an invitation to come visit anytime.
Well, last year at this time she came out and stayed 4 days. It was as if we had just said good bye the day before. WE had 4 days of laughs and tears and a lot of what ifs. I saw her off at the airport and thought- I'll never see her again but, I am glad she came.

February of this year I get an email asking if she could come out again, seems there was an opening here at the airport.( she was homeland security in AZ) An emphatic yes! was returned. She has been here since that day and has made my life rich beyond expectations. We laugh and enjoy a lot of the same things. She doesn't mind working in the garage with me on cars, she loves to cook, she is an avid gardener ( made her a raised garden) and she is my sidekick when I do seminars taking pictures, handing me a glass of water, and chiding me when I over do things.
So, today is a real day of THANKSGIVING for me in many ways. 38 years of waiting for that young lady has paid off. We are in love, lust, and enjoying life. Her job is the same and it works well with giving us time to enjoy life and all that goes with it.
