Does anyone have any information about the use of the chain (cadena) in Doce Pares, particularly Momoy Canete's San Miguel Esrkrima system?

Specifically, is there anything more to chain than figure 8's, flywheels, and redondos?

Also - the chain shown at Ramon Rubia's site

http://www.sanmigueleskrima.com/specialWeapons.htm

looks pretty interesting. Is that a bicycle chain? Given that the grip is about 4" across, I estimate that the chain is about 60" or so in length. Is that an accurate estimate? It appears to be a different weight than one you'd find at your local hardware store and I was wondering if it had different handling characteristics.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best,

Steve Lamade

I've seen people in the FMA use the rope/sash and the whip, but not a chain taught as a separate weapon! It reminds me of Japanese chain weapons.
