Was recently informed of this...

This Saturday and Sunday, March 4th and 5th, there will be a seminar and celebration for the life of Grandmaster Cabales. It's hosted by Anthony Davis and the seminar portition will be taught by Master Daren Tibon. Angel's wife and some of his children will be present and possibly many old students and masters under Angel.

Schedule is from 1-4:30 pm, but will go late into the evening as many old serrada players will probably be there and want to catch up and share stories.

cost is $55.

Sunday has the same schedule as Saturday and is for anyone who missed the first day.

Location, Lanley's karate in Sacramento California, http://www.langleyskarate.com/contact.html .

If you know any serrada players, new or old, feel free to forward this to them. I know the organizers have been trying to get back in touch with the various masters to let them and their students know about it.

Unfortunetly I wont be able to be there, but I'll find out it went from some compadres and do a write up afterwards.

Still getting back how the day was from attendees, but from what I've heard so far it seems like a good turn out.

Attendees included Angel's wife, Marytess, and her children, Masters & Guros Wade Williams, Vincent Cabales, Darren Tibon, Carlito Bonjoc, Jeff Finder, Elrik Jundis, Anthony Davis, and of course students and family of the above gentlemen.

I understand that the day ended with a BBQ at Anthony Davis's home.

I've only met Anthony Davis once over the phone before this occasion but I respect his graciousness and efforts to unite all of the former students of GM Cabales. I wish him luck and blessing in that effort and hope he continues it.

Guru Jeff "stickman" Finder, has an excellent review of the day on his blog, http://escrima.blogspot.com/ .

Looking at his photos I see several old faces that my friends forgot to mention, my apologies, also in attendence were Masters and Guros Jerry Preciado, Jojo Soribel, and Ron Saturno. Nice to see old faces.
