Is there a preferred or standard Albo Kali Silat long (live) blade?

Albo Kali Silat deals more with folding knives, smaller fixed blade knives, and karambits than with very large knives and short swords. By concentrating on the "short blade," students get more time and training invested using and working against the types of knives that are most likely to be encountered in urban and suburban areas of America, where Albo Kali Silat is currently headquartered.

That being said, there are some good large barongs, bolos, short swords, etc. on the market, and most advanced students in Albo Kali Silat eventually wish to "play" with some of the bigger blades, and various live blades have been used. A good kali practitioner can make most good quality blades "stand up and sing." There are many options available in the U.S. and abroad, from custom made large Bowies, stuff from Busse Combat, traditional designs from the Philippines, and others. Albo Kali Silat does not, really, have a "preferred" long blade or short sword, though.
