John-
Do you know if this is an open tournament or by invitation only?

Bakbakan's tournament have always been open format. However, we do send personal invites to the groups who have supported previous tournaments as a reminder.
Kinda upset though cause they may not have a "live stick" division.

The General Rules can be found on bakbakan.com under the 2005 FMA Summit. Just scroll to the bottom of the page.

This is also the tourney that the team that goes to Manila is drawn from, right? If so, I'll likely stay out (Rule of thumb: Never enter a tournament when you're not prepared to accept the consequences of winning) and see y'all at the Gathering in the fall. I glad they let me and my non-FMA trained kids come out and play, but I don't want to disrupt anything important.

Hi Chris,
To be honest, I have been out of the loop on the tournament criteria. I don't believe there is any selection taking place. And even if there was, the format/rules does not necessarily change any. It is simply a matter of your overall placement average.
