Whiskey Road's Bacon Night: Is this heaven? (http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/lifestyle/chi-0615-guy-all-you-can-eat-bacjun15,0,4097875.story)

To find a bar with good beer and burgers is a blessing.

But throw in Bacon Night––yes, gentle reader, all the bacon you can eat, and it's free—and you're in pig heaven.
[...]
All visitors have to do is go to the kitchen window in the back room and say the magic words—"bacon, please"—and a basket containing a quarter-pound of golden brown goodness will arrive in minutes.

Whiskey Road has a lot going for it: atmosphere, a nice selection of beer, excellent burgers, chalkboard walls waiting to be written on, the aforementioned Guitar Hero, movies ("Spinal Tap" the night we were there). And bacon. Up to 40 pounds a night.

ROAD TRIP!!!

The next time i got a Monday night open, this Chicagoan will check it i out, mos def.

Damen, off Armitage - Just north of Red Dog and North Side Bar, quite an artsy fartsy neighborhood nowadays. Back in da day, predominantly a latino hood, the area was littered with the Unknowns and other bangers and not a good place to be at night. In fact, my 1st time in that hood, i got scoped by the Unknowns wit da quickness, but my boy was well known (tho neutral). That hood has really turned around, quite amazing. My friend's mom owns a mixed-use building there (3 flat/storefront w/5 apartments), told me how the value skyrocketed to over a million.

The other place i should check out is Doug's Hot Dogs, supposed to have dogs made with all types of exotic meats; venison, lion, etc catch my drift?

Good places to goto is the Crooked Spoke, biker bar/restaurant, on Grand Ave (dine in, near west side). You can park ur bike on the sidewalk in front.

Ed Debevics (dine it, downtown) and Weiner Circle (standing room only, lincoln park) are places to check out, but make sure u leave ur manners at home. Service is very rude, but thats the allure. Dont take it personal they try to treat everyone like crap.

Also, no visit to Chicago is complete without a eating at Jim's (standing room only). Athough no longer in the original location, his establishment is one of the places that made Maxwell Street famous. A polish and/or porkchop sandwich are must haves, make sure u get extra grilled onions. Note: do not try the hot peppers unless u wanna buuuuurn. An alternative to Jim's is the Bus Stop, another standing room only hot dog stand. Literally a shack with a window, a couple blocks north of Whiskey Road at the corners of Damen, Diversey, and Clybourn.

Enjoy Chicago grease.

I once saw a recipe for a stuffed hamburger made from 1/2 pound of ground bacon, stuffed with cheese, then beer battered and deep-fried, then topped with another slice of cheese... my arteries harded a little just reading about it.

Freely available bacon could very well be the death of me. I used to horrify my classmates when I was doing clinicals at one of the San Angelo hospitals. After first rounds, we'd pop down for breakfast. Without fail, they had the gigantic Mound o'Bacon included in the breakfast offerings.

So, naturally, I'd scoop up the nutritional balanced breakfast of a tortilla and a significant chunk from the Mound o'Bacon. Nothing like a good old arteriosclerosis burrito!

Mr. Larsen is still banging out The Savage Dragon at Image. He and McFarland are the only founding memebers with a consistant record getting their books out and continuing to do so. Erik still handles all of the creative duties on his books though while Todd's more of an editor.

Mich. baseball park to offer 4,800-calorie burgers (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090326/ap_on_fe_st/odd_bodacious_burger)

The West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor league baseball team, will be offering up major league cholesterol, carbohydrates and calories in an enormous hamburger being added to the menu this year at the Fifth Third Ballpark.

The 4-pound, $20 burger features five beef patties, five slices of cheese, nearly a cup of chili and liberal doses of salsa and corn chips, all on an 8-inch sesame-seed bun. That's a lot of dough!

The Grand Rapids Press reports that anyone who eats the entire 4,800-calorie behemoth in one sitting will receive a special T-shirt. Saner fans can divide it up with a pizza cutter and share.

What's sane about that?!?

That is what I like about the smaller ball parks, they aren't afraid of being politically correct.. A good sized hamburger or bbq sandwich with the juices running down the bread and your hands remind me of times past when America's citizens weren't afraid of the food they ate.. Family reunions with half a cow on the table or even a pig on the spit made me proud of being an American. This is a sign of America's past that is fading away faster than the offerings of BBQs and Donkey baseball games during the 4th of July

Who needs bacon when you have a full pig on the spit? That and the home made sausage with spices that you could get from the farmers that had their own smoke houses or the amish/mennonite communities that had some of the spiciest sausages that would make your eyes water.. Oh yeah, and don't forget the bratwurst or polish sausages on the bbq grill while watching the minor league baseball games.. Or even your own kids little league games when baseball was a game and not a business

Yes, Bacon Vodka.

Bakon Vodka is a superior quality potato vodka with a savory bacon flavor. It’s clean, crisp, and delicious. This is the only vodka you’ll ever want to use to make a Bloody Mary, and it's a complementary element of both sweet and savory drinks.

Bakon Vodka is also a great Bar-B-Q companion. Use it in a marinade or sip it chilled with a steak. Check out our recipes section for more ideas.

Bacon Vodka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacon_vodka)

Bacon vodka is vodka infused with bacon flavor, created based on the concept of a "meat and potatoes" pairing. It is one type of vodka infusion, a flavored liquor. It was introduced recently amidst a flurry of other bacon related novelty items. The specialty drink joins other bacon food oddities and is used to make alcoholic beverages including the bacon martini.
