Guro Sarjeant,

Would you mind sharing with us about the systems that make up Sadiq Kali Silat? I'm paticularly curious about Espiritu Mandirigma Arnis, Moro Moro Kali, the 16 dimensions and weapons component of Vee Kuntao Arnis, and Aneh Palu Kali. Both origins and backgrounds of the above arts and their technical descriptions.

Thanks.

Here you go:

Espiritu Mandirigma is primarily derived from the Pambuan Arnis System. It has components of Single/ Double Stick, Edged Weapon (Long and Short), Kuntaw, and Buno. This system is based on the original syllabus of the Pambuan Arnis System. Ama Guro Raffy Pambuan sanctioned this system and we are still very much a part of the Pambuan Arnis.

The Moro Moro Kali is a raw Kali system taught by Guro Hassan Ali. This coupled with Arnis (Modern/ Kombatan) from Hock is primarily Aneh Palu Kali. There are other components from other methods also included into the Aneh Palu syllabus. Aneh Palu covers Impact, Edged, Flexible, Empty Hand and Grappling. There are also sword sayaws in the system.

Grand Tuhon Vee had 13 dimensions in his Vee Arnis System, then I added 3 additional dimensions. The dimensions are simply diffrent concepts, principles, and sub-systems of the system. Examples include: Passing, Largo Mano Impact/ Defanging The Snake, Cupping, Indirect Striking, and Punyo are a few. In the Vee Arnis training is primarily in Single/ Double Sticks, and Edged Weaponry along with the Vee Jitsu Te's and Ju Jitsu. Vee Arnis also includes aspects from various Kung Fu Systems, Kuntao, and Ta'i Chi.

Now, as far as Sadiq is concerned, the following methods are included. Kali/ Arnis, Silat, Kuntaw, Vee Jitsu, Sanuces, Buno, and African Stick and Knife Combatives.

Feel free to inquire with more questions. As well, I regularly teach various seminars throughout the country during the year.

Peace & Blessings!

Darrell Sarjeant

Sanuces,

Hello Guro Sarjeant,

Thank you for your blessings and I offer mine as well.

Does Moro Moro in Moro Moro Kali refer to the Komedya? Is there a paticular sword that is emphasized in the sword sayaws? Is this an art that was developed in the states or or in the Philippines?

I'm not familiar with this word, "Sanuces". Is this a system, technique, or...?

Can you tell us what what Aneh Palu means?

Thank you.

Thank you for your questions.

I will get the exact meaning of Aneh Palu for you.

The Moro Moro Kali Sayaws emphasize the Machete.
The Komedya, I believe is in the system, but I have not learned them. It was taught to Guro Hassan by Tuhon Manuel Santiago. It originated in the Southern Philippines.

Sanuces means Simplicity of Survival. It is the system of martial arts taught by Dr. Moses Powell. It is inclusive of Vee Jitsu, Aiki, Arnis, Bando, Karate, and others. Dr. Powell is best remembered as the top student of Prof. Vee and seen in the movie "The Warrior Within".

Salamat!

Datu Sarjeant, were you the gentleman who had a highlighted section on a Discovery Channel martial arts television documentary a few years ago?

Palasut:

No sir. I believe that was Professor David James, the Inheritor of Vee Arnis Jitsu, the last of the systems developed by Grand Tuhon Vee.

Thank you for your question.

Thanks Darrell,

Thanks for answering the question.

Its great to see your association with Ama Guro Raffy. I have met him on several occasions at Tuhon Ray Dionaldo's FCS Gathering in Tampa, FL.

BTW, no need to call me "sir", you can refer to me by my handle, "Palusut".

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I will contact Punong Guro Hassan and get specific details of Tuhan Santiago and more on Aneh Palu Kali for you early next week. I will be off to Milwaukee to teach a seminar tomorrow morning early.
