I was always wondering, why did they named it a "method"... Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to be just a bunch of techniques, more or less.

He felt it was whole method, which he called Defendu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defendu). But I know what you mean!

Well, maybe for the entire curriculum, which also included empty hand work and so on, but the weapon portion really did not seems as much of a method, in comparison with John Styers' for example...
