that is quite a bit of a drive...i guess i will have to wait for a seminar or a qualified instructor or master to move to the bay area. i do enjoy watching those clips of GM Ilustrisimo though. a wonder to behold.
Mang Topher owns most of those precious video clips of Tatang Tonio.

Watching those videos would be worth the trip alone.

Aside from Master Topher Rickets in San Diego, is there anyone else who teaches KI in southern california? Orange county, to be more specific

Guru Dan Inosanto also teaches KI. He teaches a blend of FMA, but tells you the source.

In OC Daniel Sullivan teaches FMA, but not sure which styles.

Does Guro Inosanto teach what he learnt from GM Regino purely on its own ?

Not sure about his classes at the academy. The only thing I have seen him teach of Ilustrisimo ( from Regino) is what he calls the Ilustrisimo drill I have seen him teach this 3 times over that last 15 years of going to seminar. Its basically double stick against 12 Ilustrisimo angles of attack. The only foot i have seen performed is Retirada. Vince aka Black Grass
Ah, thanks for the info Vince :)

I have only been to only one seminar a few years ago before I started training at the academy.
If you ever visit Southern California stop by the Academy in Marina Del Rey.
You can see the list of things we learn under KI.
Hello Hawke,
Can you post here that list of the things you learned under KI? I'm not gonna comment on it.. just wanna get a glimpse of what KI is like outside of the Phi.
Thanks.

Where is it posted? I've been to the Inosanto Academy a couple times and I don't remember seeing it.

Bahad Zu'Bu KI under the Flag of the ROMO Clan incorporates the following;
1. Retriada
2. recta directa
3. florete
4. trancada
5. general kombate
6. de cadena de lateral
7. pluma
8. payong
9. quatro kantos
10. tres kantos sundot
11. redondo
This is a portion of the BaHad ZuBu Ka'lis Ilustrisimo I teach here in San Antonio. I learned from Maestro Yuli...we however do have influences from Silat as well as other indigenous sources. In the end the key remains in the simplicity laden with intent.
As was whispered to me in a dream, spoken by Tatang "it is in you, you hold the key"

The KI list is toward the front of the main training area on the 1st floor on the same wall as the Bruce Lee pics.
I'll see what I can do. We are not allowed to take pics inside the school.

I thought is was the KI list.
Turns out to be the 12 Areas of LaCoste Kali.

Was that 12 angles of attack similar to KI's?

Yes exactly the same. the last time I saw him teach this material was in Montreal 2-3 years ago.

I saw a Rick Tucci video instructional years ago showing Ilustrisimo 12 Angles of Attack which I suppose extracted from Inosanto Blend and was quite different from KI's 12 Basic Angles of Attack. It illustrated lots of leg shots.

Interesting. Its possible that Guro Dan was teaching the KI he learned from PG Edgar (Suilte) I just assumed that it was Regino's numbering and drill , because the drill Guro Dan taught didn't look like what we do in KI.
Come to think of it, I do remember doing a similar single stick drill which my Lameco instructor ( not PG Edgar) said came from Ilustrisimo which was similar to Kuatro Kantos but lacked the foot work.
I do remember asking Guro Dan at a seminar to clarify if the techniques came from Tatang or Regino, he then proceeded to pull out a diagram/family tree to show his Ilustrisimo training and related styles ( serrada, Villabrille, lameco).
So the answer is I guess I really don't know!!!
