Women Warriors of the Philippines:
Princess Urduja: (http://www.urduja.com/princess.html)

Princess Urduja ancient accounts say, was a 14th century woman ruler of the dynastic Kingdom of Tawalisi in Pangasinan, a vast area lying by the shores of the Lingayen Gulf and the China Sea. Pangasinan was an important kingdom then, and the sovereign was equal to the King of China. Known far and wide, Princess Urduja was famous for leading a retinue of woman warriors who were skilled fighters and equestrians. They developed a high art of warfare to preserve their political state.
Gabriela Silang: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriela_Silang)

María Josefa Gabriela Cariño Silang (March 19 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_19), 1731 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1731)-September 29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_29), 1763 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1763)) was the first Filipino (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filipino_people) woman to lead a revolt during the Spanish colonization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Philippines_%281521-1898%29) of the Philippines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines). An active member of the insurgent force of Diego Silang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Silang), her husband, she led the group for four months after his death before she was captured and executed.
Teresa Magbanua (http://www.pia.ops.gov.ph/kalayaan/magbanua.htm)

Teresa Magbanua y Ferraris earned the distinction of being the only woman to lead combat troops in the Visayas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visayas) against Spanish and American forces.
Trinidad Tecson (http://www.globalpinoy.com/ch/ch_category.php?category=heroes&name=Trinidad%20Tecson%20&table=ch_heroes&startpage=1&endpage=15)

Trinidad was already 47 years old when she joined the woman chapter of the Katipunan in 1895....Albeit signing with the blood was not required for women, Trinidad drew blood from her forearm and used it to sign her oath of loyalty, determination and affiliation to the Katipunan.
... In the battlefield, Trinidad fought side by side with men, wearing a Katipuneros outfit with a wide brimmed hat.

Darn! I miss the Sexbomb Girls.

You're not the only one who misses the sexbomb girls.. They came to Guam with some of the stars from the Philippines and the show was totally sold out.. Something about chicks with sticks made the majority of the audience male at the shows. The girls on some of the other shows on ABS-CBN hold a close rivalry to the sexbombs, but the originals are a fading memory in the grey matter of this old man.

I thought it was more like a baton demo. If they did some more spinning or twirling and or lite them on fire you could see the same thing in the middle of a high school football field. ;)

One of my students was actually a competetive baton twirler back when she was in high school (She'd kill me if I told you how long ago) I'll sometimes catch her twiling her stick absent mindedly during breaks in class.

I know just what you mean!!! All students have a tendency to twirl the stick between their fingers that must be beaten out of them, but sometimes the ex-marching band baton majorettes just cannot stop doing what they've learned elsewhere!

Hmm.... I never thought of beating the tendency out of her.... Now I have a lesson plan for tomorrow's class!!

I don't think its bad nor lead to bad habits. Its a great stress reliever though I must admit its kinda annoying seeing your students do that more than once while training. Done in one's own time and place will be fine and good.
