Guro Matedne is an expert Filipino and Indonesian Fighting Systems. He began his Filipino Martial Arts training in 1984 under the late GrandMaster Leo Giron, receiving his instructors title. He has trained extensively with Guro Besar Pendekar Herman Suwanda, head of the Mande Muda Pencak Silat family system. Prior to Pendekar Suwanda’s untimely death, Guro Phil was issued his certified teaching credentials and received the title Jagabaya. He has trained with Guro Felix Valencia of Lameco, and is certified teach his Defensive Edges Curriculum. Guro Phil has also trained exclusively with Guro Patrick Rivera, of Oahu Hawaii, receiving his instructorship rank in a Cebuano system of edged weapons. . Guro Phil currently studies with Guro Daniel Siazon of the DeCuerdas System. Guro Phile has appeared in several books on the Filipino/ Indonesian Martial arts most notably: “ Contact Weapons, Leathality and Defense” by Steve Tarani and Damon Fay, “Pencak Silat through my eyes “ by Pendekar Herman Suwanda, and “Masters of the Blade” by Reynaldo S. Galang.
This six hour seminar will present and exposition and overview to the Art of Silat. Covered topics include:
Empty Hand Entries, Takedowns and Groundlocks
Relationship of Empty Hand Applications to Finger Blades, Knives and Karambits
Jurus ( Short Form)
Buah (Application of the Form)
