This'll be coextensive with the MartialTalk Meet & Greet (http://www.martialtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50734)! I'm not yet sure if I can make it, but would like to be there.

We are looking for instructors to teach a session. If you teach, you get in free. This is a good opportunity to give others a taste of what your art has. :)

I'd like to be there. My wife has something going on that Friday, but I'm not sure if it's an all day thing or not. If I can free those days up I may be able to work it out.

This is the M&G for a variety of <martialart>Talk.com websites, and will include more than just the FMA. But, it will be held at a dedicated FMA school!

Right now, we've got 5 designated instructors on the list. I'll be trying to get another update up over the weekend. I'm hoping for another 1-2 FMA on the roster.
Anyone attending who would like a few minutes to explain of demo is also welcome. This event has been an excellent sharing and learning experience the past several years, and we're looking to continue to expand. :)

If everyone who has contacted me about teaching could shoot me a PM to confirm their intent and a 1-2 sentence write up of what they'll be doing bu Monday night? I want to update the event info and get the sign up page running.
Thanks!

So, the times should be posted by Tuesday? I'm without a computer currently, so I may have to hit someone up to use theirs so I can start trying to formulate a plan.

I highly recommend anyone interested in Pekiti Tirsia to attend Mr. Jack Latorre's session. He is an exemplary practitioner, a great teacher, and a great person. I'm a bit biased as we are good friends, but his skills are top notch in both the application and the teaching of Pekiti Tirsia.

As much as I'd love to go - no amount of martial arts training would save me from my wife and son if I did go... Sounds like it will be a good time though....

I've attended both a formal seminar by him and an informal spur-of-the-moment one, and learned things both times! I certainly recommend him.

2007 Buffalo NY MartialTalk Meet & Greet
August 3-4, 2007: Buffalo NY
Well, this years event has come to a close. We had 34 attendees, making this our largest event ever. People came from Massachusetts, Texas, Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio, Ontario and more this year. My mind is as usual, fried right now, so I'll just touch on the high lights of this years event. :)
Friday night we met up at the hotel before heading out to Pizza Plant for some local cuisine, then back to the hotel for more relaxed networking.
Saturday was the official training day. I want to thank this years instructors for their time and wonderful sessions.
We started things out with Terry & Yolanda Stoker from Texas, who ran everyone through some interesting warm ups and techniques that they use in their school. They were followed by Daniel Tesmer (Drac) & Steven Fine (Father Greek) from Ohio who demonstrated some of the techniques police use to control a subject, and did some Combat Hapkido. Third up was local Wing Chun instructor Mark Stoddard who went over some of the techniques and concepts of Wing Chun. Forth was Tom Quinn from NY who did some excellent Nihon Goshin Aikido. Fifth was Rich Parsons from Michigan who taught Modern Arnis, Sixth was Jason Arnold from Ontario, Canada who taught Parkers Kenpo, and we closed out with Jack Latorre who did Pekiti Tirsia.
After a short break where several of us helped dismantle the training floor and move it to the schools new location, we headed out to the buffet for crab, sushi and more. Then, back to the hotel where the last person didn't head to bed until after 1am.
From what I've seen and heard so far, this was our best M&G yet. I personally want to thank each and everyone who came for making this a huge success! It was a pleasure finally meeting so many of you and seeing others again.
If you missed it, you missed some excellent training and comradery, but don't despair. We're doing it again next year and you can schedule early. :)
The 2008 MartialTalk-KenpoTalk-FMATalk-WNYMartialArts Meet & Greet will be held July 18,19,20th 2008 in Buffalo NY. We have 2 tentative instructors already listed for next year as well. Jason Arnold and Jack Latorre. So mark your calendars now!
I'm editing the pictures now, and should have them posted by mid week. (400+ to go through, lol)
Thank you again!

Sounds great! Thanks for sharing this. Between Mr. Parsons (Modern Arnis and Balintawak) and Jack Latorre (Pekiti Tirsia), and being at Tim Hartman's Modern Arnis school, the FMAs were well represented I'm sure!

It was a pleasant event that I think was an eye opener for many. I was pleased to make the acquaintance of many new folks.
Bob Hubbard put on this together quite well, and although I didn't get to hang out and do the social components, the attendees seemed open-minded, friendly and out to have a good time. I look forward to teaching at next year's event.

Great, great, great time!
The FMAs were well represented with Mr. Rich Parsons doing some stick work from Modern Arnis and Mr. Jack LaTorre demonstrating some applications of Pekiti-Tersia.
If anyone ever has a chance to see either Mr. Parsons' or Mr. LaTorre's teaching, I would highly recommend it. Both are personable, knowledgeable, and very thorough teachers. Thanks to both for a very enjoyable time!

Hello.
I'm new to the website. I've been involved in martial arts for many years and breifly trained in FMA. I'd like to do more but there is no one in my area. Do you know anybody teaching arnis/escrima in the Albany, NY area?
