this weekend i was able to attend the seminar in new iberia with tuhon guro bill mcgrath.
this was my first seminar so i was nervous to say the least.
we started with warm ups led by matass na guro scott faulk .

tuhon started with the harder stuff on saturday while we were still fresh and saved the easier stuff for sunday .(great call )

tuhon would show us the moves and then he , scott faulk and sifu danny would go around and help us.
it was great having so much help .
the pace of the seminar was just right as i was able to keep up and
tuhons humor helped keep us laughing as we worked out .

after the class on saturday two people tested for advancement -solo baston abcediaro and pekit kick boxing and tempering .

we started again on sunday with mattass na guro scott faulk helping us stretch and get loose
sifu danny was able to point out the fine details that made each technique work to its full potental

i was able to buy dvd's on basic footwork , solo baston contradas and solo baston recontras

one of the guys in the class introduced us to a new term BWV'S -butt whipping vacations
im glad i had today off .

it was a great seminar looking forward to the pti summer camp .

PEKITI-TIRSIA EMPTY HAND TECHNIQUE ... top (http://www.pekiti.com/outline.php#top)

Since [as classically taught] you had already mastered all the weapon techniques, by the time you moved on to hand-to-hand you were taught how to use the hands as weapons and simply translated the weapon drills into hand techniques. The general categories are:
Entry techniques and nerve hits - attacks that bridge the gap, coming mainly from knife-to-knife and single stick techniques.
Parry drills - coming from knife and stick drills.
Traps - coming from sword and dagger techniques.
Fist, foot, and joint breaking - coming from knife and single stick.
Locks, throws, takedowns - mainly coming from hand vs. knife.
Leg work - [kicks, stomps, leg traps, and "foot clearing" - parrying kicks with the lower leg ] - leg attacks and counters to kicks coming from knife vs. emptyhand counters and the older "silat" techniques of the Majapahit Empire period.
Ground work- wrestling and strangulation from hand vs. knife.2 FORMS ... top (http://fmatalk.com/)

ABCEDARIO DE MANO
Slap - Sets 1 and 2 - with palm and back of hand.
Fist - Sets 3 and 4 - Vertical fist uppercut, one knuckle hook, 45* downward cross, hammer fist, thrusting backfist.
Elbows - Sets 5 and 6- Diagonal down, diagonal up, horizontal, vertical and thrusting.
Wrist Hack - Sets 7 and 8 - with wrist bone.
Forearm Hack - Sets 9 and 10 - with bony edge of arm , also "dead-arming" with top of arm.
Eye jab - Set 11 - whips, thrusts and gouges.
Kicks - Set 12 - Round house with shin - 45* up, horizontal, 45* down, reverse / front kick with shin/
"sipa" kicks with bottom of foot/hooking backkick/cut kicks with edges of foot/inside and outside.
hooking kicks with heel stomps.

PEKITI-DE MANO: Entries, traps and takedowns based on the Pekiti-Disarma. The techniques are structured with an armed opponent in mind.

What is Pekiti kickboxing?

I believe the block of material the original poster is refering to is called "Tempering & Kickboxing" within the PTI curriculum. "Tempering" refers to a set of impact conditioning drills for the arms and legs. "Kickboxing" is a bit of a misnomer as it has nothing to do with gloving up and going at it - so to speak. The "Kickboxing" portion is actually basic footwork, strikes, counter-offense, combinations, etc. culled from the other empty-hand portions of the curriculum (i.e. - Abcedario de Mano, Pekiti de Mano, Empty Hand vs. Knife...). Tuhon Bill put this first as a way of giving a beginning student with no martial arts background a basic fluency in some empty hand techniques before tackling the larger pieces of the Empty Hand curriculum.

Thanks you, I hadn't heard the term before. It sounds like I'm learning the unarmed in a more integrated manner rather than it being focused on as a seperate entity as it sounds like here. Certainly the "Abcedario de mano" is new to me. Nothing new about tempering though. :D
