I don't think I know this drill? (Of course, I don't study the art!) Is it like tapi-tapi (counter-the-counter)?

Hubud is not the same as segung lebo. You guys need to come for some training, this learn by bulletin board thing or making analogies between different FMA and Pekiti is not doing the job.

It's close enough that anybody who knows one can do the drill with someone who knows the other without any problem. In the base drill the only difference is that we use the sidestep to quarter while we're doing it and the palm-up control position is preferred to the palm-down one. It's fundamentally the same motor skill though. Inasanto kali does seem to have more variations of hubud than I've seen of segung labo, but that just means that in one system it refers to more types of drills(pretty much any looping clinch/trapping drill seems to go by that name in IK)

Close enough? You can't say they are the same and close enough on this one is "no cigar" if you ask me.

I've done them both and I don't do hubud anymore and they are not the same. Ok to say they are similar but they are not the same.

Can you tell me why hubud is better or equal to segung lebo or in what circumstance it would be better or more suited to?

hahaah..Your a funny guy, I didn't mean it was the same thing, To me It looks very very similar (I have just been introduced to it In the past year) , So to (me!!) I would Call it hubud because that is what I know, And yes Its close enough,( for a Comparison ) Its darn closer the Break in - Break Out!!

Just Sit back and relax alittle.

I don't think anyone here is actually trying to learn the the system from this forum.

What about this question? (i'm serious)

Can you tell me in what circumstance Hubud would be better or more suited to do than segung lebo?

Neither Are better than one another its just one "way" for dealing with this range. Plus it follows certain concepts.. I really like the plam Up position, I find myself using it when doing disarms, locks, etc.

You probably have more experenice then me, Whats your take on it?

not sure about that, your icon makes you look like a salty gunny dog with alot of experience.

Probably on the gun forums as well..

Anyway, maybe hubud with palm down(keeping the footwork of segung lebo) could be for empty hand vs. empty hand or maybe with the good guy with knife in up position(sak sak) in left hand such that palm up might not be such an advantage. I thought about it some after I posted the message...

Good for me to think about it but I am looking for a constructive exchange of information in this posting at least.
