I have read some about the PI's wood use for sticks (kamagong and bahi), but what about US hard woods such as hickory, oak, or walnut? For a practice stick I know that oak and walnut wouldn't do as they would crack along the grain lines with repeated use (hickory less so because of its swirling grain), but for "special" use how do these woods compare?

I use hickory , oak , and maple for every day practice. When they start to crack I throw them away and cut another one
